Ken Holbrooks, P.E.

OWNER AND PRESIDENT

Ken established The Bayard Group in 2006, recognizing the need for a small focused company to lead development efforts in the Southeast.  He continues to utilize his strengths in the technical side of development along with a thorough knowledge of complex real estate negotiations and financing of projects to assist many companies as they navigate this difficult time in our industry.  Ken and The Bayard Group currently consult or have recently consulted for banks, private equity firms, developers and builders for properties throughout the Carolinas and the Southeast. Ken has been involved in major developments throughout the Southeast -- in Atlanta, Charlotte, Charleston, Raleigh, Nashville, Jacksonville,  Columbia, Myrtle Beach and Greenville, SC.

Ken’s development career began as a project engineer/manager with International Paper, where he received the Environmental Excellence Award for leading a  critical environmental project.  Ken spent a decade in the Atlanta market with John Wieland Homes, St. Joe/Arvida and United General Industries/Touchstone Homes.  He next returned to his native Carolinas as the head of Cambridge Development’s North Carolina operation, then helped to establish Killian-Simonini, a development company created by the owners of Simonini Builders, a national award-winning custom home builder.

Ken’s training includes a Bachelors of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, a Masters in Environmental Engineering from the University of South Carolina, and an MBA (specializing in Finance and Real Estate) from the University of Georgia.  He has served several terms on city councils and is a member of HBA and REBIC.  He currently holds a North Carolina brokers license.

 

 

TIM COEY

 

Tim has been an invaluable addition to Bayard.  Tim brings a wealth of relationships in the development and builder industries in the Carolinas, along with extensive knowledge of financial analysis and financing of development.  Throughout his extensive career, he has developed large master planned communities and acquired land for residential development and building lots for homesites.  
 
After spending several years in the public sector in the Cleveland, Ohio area, including 10 years negotiating agreements ranging from union contracts to development agreements, Tim joined Forest City Enterprises in 2000.  After one year of management in the Cleveland home office of Forest City Land Group,  Tim was promoted to Director of the Southeast Division of Forest City Land Group based in Charlotte, North Carolina.  After acquiring and developing various opportunities for Forest City, Tim joined M/I Homes of Charlotte in 2004 as Vice President of Land Acquisition and Development.  Tim utilizes his financial expertise, acquisition and development knowledge and relationships to effectively assist our clients in finding the perfect real estate transaction for their needs.
 
Tim's college education started at Muskingum College in New Concord, Ohio where he obtained a Bachelor Degree in Business and Economics.  He continued his education at Cleveland State University taking additional accounting and finance classes.  Tim holds a CPA license in Ohio and a brokers license in North Carolina.
